There's really not much to talk about. That was absolutely the worst and most boring show they've ever done. I realize a lot of that was impact from the writers strike (or so folks are saying), but seriously, the montages while enjoyable were way too much. Jon Stewart looked like he was just trying to stay alive from the lack of material and do the job with what he had. People in the audience just didn't seem to respond to the jokes or any of the action taking place. Either that or the sound was so extremely terrible that they just decided to cut out the audience reaction altogether. Even the "In Memoriam" segment seemed like only half the usual effort was put into it which is a shame because that's a dedication to the great people we've lost over the last year.
Not many interesting films to talk up or jarring awards to post about. No Country for Old Men was the obvious winner hands down for all the awards that were given, so no surprise there. All the films that were talked about won the awards respectively for the things they did best or the things they had in the movie (such as Daniel Day Lewis - I'm pretty sure any movie with him in it is going to win something).
So yeah, not much to talk about at all. However, if you have something to share, some special insight to the events of the evening I'll be happy to talk about it with you.
