I'm currently working with the Ohio Comic Con folks to help bring in the horror and filmmaking part of the convention. We have several needs to cover at this point and I'm trying to get the word out as much as I can.

1) We will be shooting a commercial which will be of television quality to be pushed out on the web as well. The concept is secure and the costumes are in the bag, we just need a script (which is coming shortly), actors, crew, and set builders. We are keeping this light, it's only a 30 - 45 second spot. Anyone involved will get half off their ticket price for the convention and a copy of the commercial on DVD. Casting calls will be coming in the next few weeks so stay tuned. However, if you're interested and want to be considered first, I'm putting a list together of contacts for interested parties who I'll go to right away before putting out the notices. Shoot me an email with what you'd like to contribute to the project.

2) They are having a screening area for movies. So, we need movies. There is no submission forms or fees and submissions should be made on DVD. Before sending me a bunch of discs send me an email with the name of the movie, run time, a brief synopsis, and let me know if there is a lot of violence or any nudity in it (your movie will still be considered, we just need to know). Movies should be complete, no rough cuts, they can be feature or short, they can have distribution as long as the distributor is cool with it being screened, and they should be comic or horror related. The movies will need to go through a screening process before a final decision is made. There is no deadline yet but the cutoff will probably fall sometime around June or July.

3) In having a screening we need equipment. I'm looking for DVD player, Speaker system, and Projector. I'm also in need of some very large curtains to block off the doorway to the area. No I don't have measurements just now, but I know it's really big. This can be a nice sheet (preferably black or some other dark solid color) or curtains or some other form of fabric that can be hung as a staging area divider. I only need two, one for each side of the door way so to make a little curtainy show area. If you know of or have any of the items I'm looking for please shoot me a note.

4) If you are a filmmaker and wish to register for a table for the convention, the tables are only 50 bucks. You can find out more information at the website http://www.ohiocomiccon.net - They also have a myspace page at www.myspace.com/ohiocomiccon and one at comic space at www.comicspace.com/ohiocomiccon

Due to the unexpected overwhelming interest in screening movies for the convention we've decided to go with a movie submission form which can be found on the front page of the website: www.ohiocomiccon.net.

If you plan to submit a movie please download this form, fill it out, then send it along with your screener DVD to the address on the form.

The deadline is July and those who make the cut will be informed by email.

And again, NO FEES for submissions this year! (Just the cost of mailing your movie).
